What a Job Can Do for You August 28, 2007

“A young mind is easy to teach,” says Danny Roussel, manager of Butcher Boy. Having a part-time job at a young age is very critical for learning how to be ready to take on your future dream job.
Roussel says that teaching people when they are young is the best approach to learning all of life’s lessons. If you wait until you become older, it will be too hard to adapt to oncoming changes. It also gives students a way to make a fair bit of money to use every now and then. “There is much more to life than sports,” says Roussel, which is why he encourages students to apply for an after-school job instead of joining any clubs or playing after-school sports. It is very critical to become familiar with the American work force at a young age; waiting until you are in college is too late. Once in college, you won’t have time to achive a decent employment position. Work your way up at a young age and you’ll be able to feel more at ease while in college.
Some jobs, however, will give you a “good” pay right off the start, such as working for a plant or construction site. These jobs are not recommended; you may think you are getting a good offer, but the truth is that you are only getting a portion of what they are making off of you. These places are run by corporate executives who could very easily use you, profit from you, and then toss you aside with no job at all. And if you aren’t familiar with the employment system, things are guaranteed to become complicated. So it’s best to work your way up at a young age, instead of jumping blindly into something far beyond your reach. Sometimes the easiest way to be successful with any job is to work with your surroundings. Don’t try to get a high position the minute you apply; instead work your way up and get to know all the lower positions. “It’s the people at the bottom who matter; the top men simply tell you what to do,” says Roussel.
For example, a chief police officer is on top, but in the end, it is the lower officer who will give you the ticket. So by establishing a partnership with the people, you are destined to succeed. In the end you will make the same amount of money; all it takes is a little time and skill, and you will be able to go through college without all that additional stress concerning money. It is extremely important that you keep you school life above your work life.
Without a degree, your life will seem almost impossible to enjoy. So learn the facts while you still have time, and your life will be much easier. The business requires skills; you will always use them to get around obstacles, which is why education is important. It will be very important to have a source of money once you move out of the house for good. Sometimes the best choice, however, may be to move out after college instead of before, since the biggest money-eater for college students–aside from the books–is the rent, which can cause major problems when having a roommate. It is best to be safe instead of sorry.
The jobs that we would recommend for high school students include: family owned businesses, fast food restaurants, grocery store positions, lifeguard, waiter, assistant manager, or you could have your own ”business” such as babysitting, cutting grass, or anything else you can think of. If you are curious about the money system, applying for a job as an accountant, after you have a degree, is a good approach. This type of jobs offers a good amount of pay and is ideal for students who are good at math and want to know more about money. In order to be successful in life, you simply need to plan.

You should use a part time job, as a way to teach kids how to run a business.
